Pre-Pointe and Pointe
Pointe classes are an extension of the classical ballet technique. Dancers must be strong enough to continue training in ballet with pointe shoes. Pre-pointe is a strength and conditioning class resulting in a pointe assessment. Students will need to pass the TMC Pointe Assessment prior to working in pointe shoes in any class.
All pointe classes including pre pointe are strictly by teacher recommendation only.
Typically dancers will begin pre-pointe alongside the second year of Ballet 2A or Grade 5 and if they are turning 12 that year. However taking Pre Pointe does not guarantee a student will go on pointe. Some students may have physical limitations that would keep them from working in pointe shoes altogether. TMC strives to do what is best for each student when it comes to pointe work.
