Ballet
Ballet is a classic style of dance that embodies both grace and athleticism. It requires intense technique training. At the Moving Company, students are required to take a certain number of classes per week in ballet as they progress through the levels.
*Royal Academy of Dance training in ballet, also known as RAD, is an internationally recognized method of Ballet that is offered at the Moving Company. The RAD curriculum provides a set syllabus of exercises and dances in each level or grade. Dancers work on grade level vocabulary to support the uniquely choreographed patterns of the syllabus all year long. This allows them to increase their technique, musicality, and artistry through memorization and performance. Dancers in these classes may be eligible to take an RAD examination in which they would perform the syllabus for an examiner and receive scores across multiple categories.
Level 1 Classes
Tuesday 5:30-6:30pm
Saturday 11:30 - 12:30pm
Ballet 1B (Beginner)
Ballet for beginners ages 7-11. Dancer must be 7 by 9/1/23. This a full hour of ballet introducing all of the basic steps. No prior experience is required.
RAD Grade 1
Wednesday 4:30-5:30pm
This is the perfect class for 7- or 8-year-olds interested in beginning to focus on the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus work. This class is equivalent to Ballet 1B.

Ballet 1A (Advanced)
Thursday 4:30-5:30pm
Saturday 12:30-1:30pm
Ballet for dancers ages 8-11. Enrollment in Level 1A and above is by teacher recommendation only. This is a full hour of ballet refining all of the basic steps. Please call the studio to request a placement if new to The Moving Company.
RAD Grade 2
Wednesday 6:30-7:30pm
This is the perfect class for the 8-12-year-old who is interested in beginning to focus on the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus work. This class is equivalent to Ballet 1B/1A.
Enrollment in RAD Grade 2 and above is by teacher recommendation only. Please call the studio to request a placement if new to The Moving Company.

Level 2 Classes
Two ballet classes per week are required in all Level 2 Ballet classes.
Monday 4:30-5:30pm
Tuesday 4:30-5:30pm
Ballet 2B (Beginner)
Two ballet classes per week are required for enrollment in the Ballet 2B level.
Students in this level will expand the basic vocabulary and continue to refine and strengthen core steps. Enrollment in Level 2B and above is by teacher recommendation only.

RAD Grade 3
Wednesday 5:00-6:15pm
Two ballet classes per week are required for enrollment in RAD Grade 3. This class is equivalent to Ballet 1A/2B.

RAD Grade 4

Ballet 2A (Advanced)

Two ballet classes per week are required for enrollment in the Ballet 2A level.
Students in this level will begin to combine vocabulary to create more complex exercises and continue to refine and strengthen core steps. Enrollment in Level 2B and above is by teacher recommendation only.

RAD Grade 5
Tuesday 5:30-7:00pm
Two ballet classes per week are required for enrollment in RAD Grade 3. This class is equivalent to Ballet 2A/3C.

Level 3 Classes
Three ballet classes per week are required in *most Level 3 Ballet classes.
Tuesday 7:00-8:30pm
Thursday 6:30-8:00pm
*Ballet 3C
Three ballet classes are recommended, however, only two ballet classes per week are required for enrollment in the Ballet 3C Level.
Students in this level will spend additional time working on more complex exercises while continuing to refine and strengthen core steps before fully transitioning into Level 3 work. Enrollment in Level 3C and above is by teacher recommendation only.

RAD Intermediate Foundation
Wednesday 7:30-9:00pm
Three ballet classes per week are required for enrollment in RAD Intermediate Foundation. This class is equivalent to Ballet 3C/3B. This class also includes pointe work for those who have completed and passed the Pointe Assessment.
Enrollment in RAD Intermediate Foundation and above is by teacher recommendation only.

Ballet 3C/3B Non Performing
Saturday 10:00-11:30am
Three ballet classes per week are required for enrollment in the Ballet 3B/3C Level.
Students in this class will spend the entire year working on technique as this class does not perform in the year end show. This class is highly recommended for all students dancing at this level to continue training throughout the year. Enrollment in Level 3C/3B and above is by teacher recommendation only.

Ballet 3A/4 (Advanced)

Three ballet classes per week are required for enrollment in the Ballet 3A/4 Level.
Students in this level will be working on complex exercises and advanced steps focusing on rigor, musicality, precision and control. Enrollment in Level 3A/4 and above is by teacher recommendation only.

Level 4 and 5 Classes
Three ballet classes per week are required in Levels 4 and 5 Ballet classes.
All Ballet 4 classes are currently combined with Ballet 3A classes.

Ballet 5/RAD Advanced 1

Three ballet classes per week are required for enrollment in RAD Advanced 1.
Enrollment in RAD Advanced 1 is by teacher invitation only. This class is the only Level 5 class currently offered at the studio. This class is equivalent to Ballet 3A/4. This class also includes pointe work for those who have progressed to the Pointe 2A level or higher.
